SERVICES:
Meals On Wheels: Call 816-356-9002. Nutritious meals delivered 5 days per week for a nominal fee to those requiring assistance with their dietary needs through a recent illness or recurring condition.
Wheels That Care: Call 816-356-9000. Transportation provided by volunteer drivers for medical appointments only. This service is provided Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance of appointment time. Donations are accepted for this service.
Handyman Repair: Call 816-356-9000. Light plumbing, electrical or household repairs performed by retired craftsmen. The homeowner pays for all materials plus a minimum donation of $10 for the first hour and $5 for each additional hour.
HART (Handyman Assistance Response Team): Call 816-356-9000. Outside property maintenance work is provided by volunteers. Donations are accepted for this service.
Respite Care: Call 816-356-9000. Trained volunteers provide 2 to 4 hours of reprieve per week for primary caregivers. Donations are accepted for this service.
Telephone Reassurance: Call 816-356-9000. Volunteers provide weekly telephone calls to homebound persons to extend a friendly contact.

Wheels That Care Volunteers
Do you have time during the month to take an older adult to a medical appointment in the Kansas City area? Then volunteer with for the Wheels That Care service. Volunteers are contacted at least 2 times a month and can tell the office volunteer if they are unavailable. Wheels That Care Volunteer Drivers need to have their own reliable transportation and be able to get the client, stay with them at the medical appointment and then deliver them back home. SCR Office Volunteers
The Shepherd's Center of Raytown office located at 7900 Blue Ridge Blvd. in the One Spirit UMC is looking for volunteers to work in the office answering phones and performing office tasks. Volunteer hours are from 9:00am to Noon or 1:00pm to 4:00pm. If you would like to be on this volunteer team, please call 816-356-9000.
PROGRAMS:
Adventures In Learning: Stimulating classes are offered to continue the lifelong learning process. Lunch and a noon forum complete this program. This program meets the 4th Friday of each month (except December) at Raytown Christian Church (6108 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO. 64133).
Exercise Group: An experienced instructor leads the participants through a heart healthy, low impact routine. Classes meet at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church gym (9020 E. 51st Terrace KCMO 64133) on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30am to 9:30am.
Book Club: If you love to read and enjoy sharing your experiences with others, then this fun activity is for you! Books are decided by the participants and provided by the Raytown Mid-Continent Library. Each discussion is led by a moderator.
Bridge & Card Group: Whether you are a Bridge player or a loyal card enthusiast, you are sure to enjoy the congeniality of this lively group. They meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Blue Ridge UMC (5055 Blue Ridge Blvd. KCMO 64133).
Line Dancing: This is a fun, entertaining workout with an instructor who demonstrates all the latest steps. This group meets on Tuesdays from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Raytown Christian Church (6108 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO 64133).
Tai' Chi Chih: This moving meditation is a series of 20 simple movements that are slow, gentle and can easily be done by anyone, regardless of age or physical condition. This group meets at One Spirit UMC (7900 Blue Ridge Blvd. KCMO 64138) on Mondays from 10:30-11:30am.
Stroke Support Group: This group is for stroke patients and/or their families. They provide eduational actitivies and guest speakers and are led by a trained speech therapist. This group meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month at New Hope Christian Church (5704 Norfleet Rd. KCMO 64133).
Veteran's History Project: This a joint effort with the Raytown Historical Society and the Jackson County Historical Society. This projects recruits and trains volunteers to interview local veterans thereby preserving oral histories of their experiences. For more information, call 816-356-9000.

The Shepherd's Center of Raytown is supported in part by local area congregations and individuals in the Raytown community and by the Bi-County United Way. Since the Shepherd's Center of Raytown is non-profit, all donations are tax deductible and are always accepted and appreciated as they allow the Shepherd's Center of Raytown the ability to continue to provide services and programs for the older adults of the Raytown community.
